The village of Wass
Byland Abbey Welcome to the village of Wass (formally Byland with Wass) which nestles comfortably in a small south facing valley on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
The village of Wass

We are a small community of about 100 people comprising two parts, the village itself and a short distance away, the impressive ruins of Byland Abbey. In spite of our small size we have a church and two excellent pub / restaurants. An annual schedule of local events brings the community together. There is good holiday accommodation in various cottages in and around the village. A new Stanbrook Abbey is being built on the bank above the village.
