PREVIOUS EVENTS

Wass Open Gardens and Scarecrow Display 2017
Sunday 4th June from 12 noon until 5pm

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the Open Gardens successful and to all our
visitors. We were blessed with sunshine and raised a total of £3200, which has been divided
between Wass Village Hall, Wass Church and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Discovering Wass - A Natural History Weekend 2012
Friday April 27th - Sunday April 29th

The idea for this weekend originated from the fact that a previous inhabitant of Wass, Dr Archie Heron,
collected data on moths for many years and also built up a large collection of specimens. When he
died these were donated to York Museum. This weekend some returned home to Wass on loan.

We put together a programme of talks, walks and activities related to the natural history and also
the geology of Wass. Despite the dreadful weather it was well attended with many hardy people
braving the wind and pouring rain to look at birds and geology.

All events were free and we were very grateful to all those who helped with funding:
Ryedale District Council, NY Moors and Coast LEADER project, NY Moors Lime
and Ice Project, also to York Museum for the loan of the moths.
