The village of Wass
Byland Abbey Welcome to the village of Wass (formally Byland with Wass) which nestles comfortably in a small south facing valley on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
The village of Wass

We are a small community of about 100 people comprising two parts, the village itself and a short distance away, the impressive ruins of Byland Abbey. In spite of our small size we have a church and two excellent pub / restaurants. The post office has just closed. There is an annual schedule of local events which bring the community together. There is good holiday accommodation in various cottages in and around the village. A new Stanbrook abbey is being built on the bank above the village.
