Open Gardens and Scarecrow Display - Sunday May 27th 12 - 5pm

There will be the usual tombola, books and plants stall with teas served in the village hall. Acorn Morris will also dance at 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Admission £3, children free.
This year the money raised will be divided between the Village Hall, Wass Church and the League of Friends at Malton Hospital.

Discovering Wass - A Natural History Weekend
Friday April 27th - Sunday April 29th
The idea for this weekend originated from the fact that a previous inhabitant of Wass, Dr Archie Heron, collected data on moths for many years and also built up a large collection of specimens. When he died these were donated to York Museum. This weekend some returned home to Wass on loan. We put together a programme of talks, walks and activities related to the natural history and also the geology of Wass. Despite the dreadful weather it was well attended with many hardy people braving the wind and pouring rain to look at birds and geology. All events were free and we were very grateful to all those who helped with funding: Ryedale District Council, NY Moors and Coast LEADER project, NY Moors Lime and Ice Project, also to York Museum for the loan of the moths.

Below is a slideshow of this event which runs automatically.
